The Superintendent of the Plano school district has announced she will retire at the end of the school year.
According to a district release, Sara Bosner says she wants to spend more time with her family.
"Balancing work and family has always been important to me, but never more so than now that my sister is dealing with a critical illness," Bosner said. "Retiring will allow me the opportunity to help and support my family."
School Board President David Stolle says the board will accept her resignation with great reluctance but they understand her need to support her family.
"Plano ISD has greatly benefited from Sara's results-driven leadership and passion for student success," school Board President David Stolle said. "She will be missed tremendously by this board, the staff and the community."
The board is expected to officially accept her resignation during an upcoming emergency called meeting. Board members will also start the process of choosing the next superintendent for the Plano school district.
Bosner has been superintendent since March of 2018. She's the latest in a long list of North Texas Superintendents who are stepping down including Dallas and Fort Worth.
