Plano kicks off Mayor's internship program

Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere is calling on local businesses and nonprofits to join him for the eighth-annual Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program.

Presented by Capital One, the eight-week paid internship program, offering remote and on-site placements, or a combination of both, runs June 7-July 30. Students earn a minimum of $10 per hour working 20-40 hours per week.

LaRosiliere says already more than 400 students have applied to be a part of the 2021 program.

Now, Mayor LaRosiliere seeks to recruit new companies, from small and mid-sized organizations to large corporations, so that more motivated teens from Plano’s nationally recognized school district will have a chance at this life-changing experience.

Mayor LaRosiliere launched the program in 2014, which has since grown to serve more than 600 students to date.

Businesses can participate in several ways, by sponsoring an intern at their workplace, underwriting an intern at a nonprofit or government agency or becoming a program sponsor. Learn more and sign up at planomayorsinterns.org.
