The Plano Police Department is hiring, but the department wants to talk with officers already on the job. The police department said it's especially interested in people who are already certified Texas peace officers.
Those candidates can take part in a four- to six-week mini academy instead of attending the standard 32-week new officer training. New candidates who complete their training in October could be working in Plano as soon as December.
Applications must be submitted by Aug. 5. The next civil service exam is set for Aug. 20. The starting pay for a Plano police officer is just over $70,000 a year.
