Keller Police say it was a screening by employees at a Keller ISD school who stopped a student who brought a handgun to campus.
Just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, police say school officials found the gun in the student's backpack at the Compass Center on College Avenue. The student then fled the scene.
According to police, patrol officers arrived within one minute of a 9-1-1 call placed by school officials. They quickly located the suspect and took him into custody.
Officers later found the alleged firearm, which had been tossed during the brief foot chase. The investigation is ongoing.
