Fall colors are popping on the shores of White Rock Lake, as the 16th annual Autumn at the Arboretum debuts on Saturday, September 18.

The star of the show is the fall color. And Dave Forehand, Vice President of Gardens at the Dallas Arboretum says they have brought in over 90,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash, hailing from the pumpkin capital of Texas, Floydada.

"I think we're at 54 varieties that are displayed," Forehand says. "Anything that can be grown that's a pumpkin, squash or gourd is here, right now."

As for the theme this year...think small.

"The theme is Bugtopia. It's all things bugs," Forehand says. "We're going to have an "Insect Encounter" tent where you can actually interact with people who are knowledgeable about insects and see the real deal. I think it's going to be a lot of fun for everbody."

The ever popular Pumpkin Village is back, in a new location, just behind Jonsson Color Garden.

Autumn at the Arboretum runs through October 31.

There's a full rundown of events and features on the Dallas Arboretum website.
