Hundreds of abortion rights supporters held a rally outside Dallas City Hall Wednesday afternoon. The event was organized by Planned Parenthood Action.
The group met on the Dallas City Plaza, chanting, "My body, my choice," and "women's rights are human rights."
"Republicans do not care about children who are here already," one woman said. "They just care about unborn children."
Another woman said access to abortion should never have wound up back before the Supreme Court.
"They failed us. Obama promised to codify Roe. He didn't," she said. "RBG could have stepped down. She chose not to."
Protesters marched through Downtown Dallas, north on Akard, through the AT&T Discovery District to Pegasus Plaza. Some protesters then returned to City Hall. Others continued walking.
Several counter demonstrators started speaking through a bullhorn during the rally.
"This country is going to be judged by a holy God," one man said.
Counterdemonstrators stayed behind a fence in a different part of the plaza, but most of the protesters started gathering around them, leaving their event.
"Everybody has a right to choose the consequences," the counterdemonstrator said. "When you choose something other than God, you have made yourself a god who is no god. You will be judged by God."
Dallas Police called additional officers to keep the groups separate. Police also escorted the counterdemonstrators off the plaza.
Though the two groups were yelling at each other, both events stayed peaceful.
