Tens of thousands of girls in Texas play volleyball. But professionally, they haven't had any local heroes to look up to.
But a group of volleyball-crazed investors plans to change that.
The Pro Volleyball Federation has announced the addition of Dallas as the home of its newest franchise.
"We're really convinced that this is going to be a really strong entertainment experience," says Evan D.Stone, a DFW lawyer, and member of the ownership group. "The community is going to get behind it because of its love of volleyball."
The PVF plans to start play in February of 2024. The Dallas franchise is the first announced team that will expand the league in 2025. The league is expected to announce additional 2025 teams in the coming days.
The Dallas-based investment group is led by Wall Street veteran and Mandalorian Capital founder Armand Sadoughi.
"Volleyball is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing team sports by participation nationwide, and Dallas itself is an epicenter for the women’s game, with a long-standing tradition of excellence in the sport through its leading teams, clubs, players, and coaches." Sadoughi says.
