Report say producers have suddenly pulled the plug on "Dallas Sting", a major Hollywood film planned to tell the story of the Dallas girls' soccer team of that name.

In 1984, the girls traveled to China and against all expectations beat some of the best women's teams in the world including those from China, Australia, Japan and Italy.

Texas native Matthew McConaughey was already cast to play the team's coach Bill Kinder, who led the underdog team of Texas teenage girls selected to represent the United States in the first ever women's national FIFA tournament.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, filming was due to begin in about six weeks but on Wednesday the production company abruptly canceled the project citing unspecified, "disturbing allegations surrounding aspects of the true story on which the drama was based."
