A month after the power went out in Texas, the third and final member of the Texas Public Utility Commission has resigned at the request of Governor Abbott.
Just 13 days after Abbott appointed him Chairman following the March 3rd resignation of the previous Chair, Arthur D'Andrea has turned in his own resignation.
Over the past two weeks, the other two PUC commissioners also stepped down - Shelly Botkin and D'Andrea's predecessor as Chair, DeAnn Walker.
All three leave under the cloud of criticism that fell on the PUC for the power outages that plunged Texans into the dark on the very days when temperatures were falling to and even below zero.
Last night, Governor Abbott said he'd be naming a replacement who'll be responsible for charting what he calls a new and fresh course.
"Tonight, I asked for and accepted the resignation of PUC Commissioner Arthur D’Andrea. I will be naming a replacement in the coming days who will have the responsibility of charting a new and fresh course for the agency. Texans deserve to have trust and confidence in the Public Utility Commission, and this action is one of many steps that will be taken to achieve that goal" said a statement from the Governor.
