They are big shoes to fill and they'll be filled by a North Texas pastor.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson announced over the weekend he will step down as president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the Chicago-based civil rights group he founded more than 50 years ago.

And Jackson has accounced that the Rev. Frederick D. Haynes III, senior pastor of Dallas’ Friendship-West Baptist Church will take over in his place.

The 81-year-old Jackson announced his resignation during a quiet farewell speech at the organization’s annual convention. He's been battling Parkinson’s disease for the last eight years.

Rev. Haynes says he's honored to follow in Jackson's footsteps, promising to continue the work he started.
