We're accustomed to getting snacks, drinks, and even vapes out of a vending machine. Now, North Texas-based American Rounds is adding another product: ammunition.
The machines dispense pistol rounds, shotgun shells, and rifle ammunition.
"We prefer to call them automated retail machines, because it's really what they are," American Rounds CEO Grant Magers said.
He said the company's first machine was placed in Alabama last year and has expanded to four states, including Texas.
The machine verifies users identity and age using an ID scanner, similar to the one used by the TSA, Magers said.
“It's the safest, most secure method of ammunition sales on the market, and it completely maintains the integrity of the Second Amendment,” Magers said.
After choosing their product on a touch screen, customers use the scanner, pay, and receive their box of ammunition.
