With Covid-19 cases spiking, Richardson school trustees to hold an emergency meeting today

RICHARDSON (1080 KRLD)- The board for the Richardson school district held an emergency meeting today, after it decided to close one school because of a large number of Covid cases there.

The district announced yesterday it was closing Brentfield Elementary today. The school will be virtual for 10 days starting Tuesday. On Friday, the board held a meeting to discuss other possible actions. Parents on both sides of the issue were present and spoke out.

The Richardson district board decided it is keeping its mask mandate in place, and will address the issue of possibly closing other schools during next month's meeting.

On Wednesday, about 25 percent of the Brentfield kids were out sick. With all this mind, the school board met this morning to discuss -- among other things -- the possibility of other closures.
