Richardson to close Heights Family Aquatic Center due to lifeguard shortage

The pool will remain closed for the rest of summer

A lifeguard shortage has affected many pools throughout the country, and now Richardson has decided to close the Heights Family Aquatic Center due to the shortage.

The city of Richardson announced via Facebook that it has decided to shut down the Heights Family Aquatic Center. It claims the pool needs three times as many lifeguards to operate compared to the other aquatic facilities in Richardson.

According to the post, while the Aquatics Center is closed, the City’s four neighborhood pools are each open six days per week.
