UPDATED: A federal judge in Florida has scheduled a tentative November trial date for the man accused of kidnapping an Arlington ride-share driver last month.

The chief US District Court Judge in the Miami area has told Miguel Pastran Hernandez to be ready for trial on Nov. 4. The two sides are expecting it to take a little more than a week. Pastran was arrested by the FBI in Southern Florida three days after a rideshare driver was kidnapped at gunpoint from Arlington and forced to drive to the Miami area.

That rideshare driver survived Hernandez' car-jacking plan.

According to a federal arrest affidavit, Miguel Pastran Hernandez called a rideshare driver to a closed gas station in Arlington Saturday morning where he held the driver at gunpoint to his desired designation. It also said Hernandez had a second kidnapping in mind and demanded a $3 million ransom, but the plan fell apart when the driver managed to get away in the Miami suburb of Hialeah.

The driver was finally able to get into the bathroom of a Dollar General in Hialeah and lock the door. Police were called and the affidavit says Hernandez took off on foot. He was arrested about three hours later in Hollywood Florida, some 30 miles away.

Hernandez is being held without bond on charges of carjacking, kidnapping, and a weapons offense.
