FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A ruling on a change of venue in the murder trial of a former Fort Worth police officer will have to wait until at least Tuesday.
Aaron Dean is charged with murder in the October 2019 shooting death of Atatiana Jefferson.
Judge David Hagerman considered a slew of pre-trial motions by both sides Monday morning in the order that they were filed over the last two years.
Before adjourning for the day, however, they didn't get to the two key motions - those by the defense requesting a change of venue and a further delay of the start of the trial, which is currently slated for January 10th.
Dean's lawyers are claiming that intense media coverage of the case will make it impossible for him to get a fair trial in Tarrant County.
They're asking for an additional delay because they say two key witnesses are currently out of state.
The hearing will resume at 9:00 Tuesday morning.
