The Salvation Army says stats from 2025 show more people in North Texas need help. The organization says it saw a 12% increase in demand last year.

The Salvation Army says housing insecurity drove demand. The non-profit says it provided 264,592 nights of shelter last year, a 30% increase from 2025. The organization says an increasing percentage of people considered housing insecure are seniors and veterans.

At the organization's "Doing the Most Good" luncheon in Dallas last year, the Salvation Army said it was preparing to help more people with its $212.7 million campaign "to end inter-generational poverty and homelessenss." The Salvation Army is building a 21 acre campus in Dallas to serve as a hub, providing shelter and services to help people become self-sufficient.

"The Salvation Army will help six times more people end their homelessness than we currently do. The campus will quadruple our current capacity for serving families experiencing homelessness," Major Rob Webb said. "We will connect our clients to critical services right on the campus to mitigate the barriers to their success and help them on a path to self-sufficiency and success for a brighter future."

The Salvation Army says it currently runs 21 centers in North Texas including 12 food pantries.

Last year, the organization says it provided four million pounds of food in North Texas, provided addiction recovery for 500 people and moved 1,592 people into stable housing.

The Salvation Army of North Texas says it provided a total of 264,592 nights of shelter at its centers in the Metroplex and gave 77,873 people "worship or emotional and spiritual care."

The organization says it relies on contributions at the end of the year. The Salvation Army says it receives almost half its revenue in the last months of each year, but its services, which include shelters, disaster response, food assistance and recovery programs, need money year-round.
