Nearly six months after she was shot in the face during a firearms training exercise, a Sansom Park police officer is filing a lawsuit.

Filed in Tarrant County, Lina Mino's lawsuit accuses a Killeen-based police training company of "gross negligence" in violating "the most basic safety rules" leading to Mino's wound.

Reports say she lost an eye and suffered a brain injury as a result of the accident.

In early November, Mino and officers from a number of North Texas police departments were going through training in dealing with school shooters. No live ammunition was supposed to be introduced and Mino's wounding has not been publicly explained.

Although a certified police officer, her role in the training that day was as an actor in plain clothes.

A GoFundMe page set up to help Mino says that she must continue with out-patient treatment requiring "physical, occupational and speech therapies."
