Authorities arrested a second man in connection to a carjacking attempt that turned deadly in late May, police say.

Officers arrested 34-year-old Zachary Lowe on Tuesday with help from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and charged him with murder, Denton police said.

The incident happened May 25 in the 3200 block of W. Windsor Drive in Denton, police said. Three men, including Lowe, approached a pickup truck and forced its driver to the ground at gunpoint.

River Williams, 25, then got into the passenger seat of the truck, police said. The driver tried to get back into the truck and, during a struggle for Williams' gun, Williams was shot.

Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested Riley Clowers, 24, shortly after the incident. He is being held at the Denton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Lowe remained at the Denton city jail and his bond had not been set as of Tuesday night.

Clowers and Lowe face murder charges because they both "presented weapons during the commission of an aggravated assault" during which Williams died, police said.
