Six of the seven San Antonio police officers who were injured Wednesday night have been released from the hospital. The seven were shot while responding to a call about a suicide in progress.

The incident began when officers received a call about a "suicide in progress" at an apartment complex in the Stone Oak neighborhood. The suspect in his 40s then opened fire on the responding officers.

The first officer to arrive was shot in the lower extremity, followed by two more officers who were also shot.

A fourth officer was shot in the torso. The remaining three officers were shot in succession as they arrived on the scene.

All seven officers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had three prior arrests for assault and driving while intoxicated.

One officer remains in the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

It is unclear whether the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound or was shot by police. The investigation is ongoing, and the identities of the officers and the suspect have not yet been released.
