Severe weather Monday night prompted a tornado warning in Ellis County, and strong winds knocked a semi-truck on its side in Midlothian. The truck was parked at a Love's Travel Stop near Highways 67 and 287.

Midlothian firefighters broke the window to rescue the man inside the truck. He was not hurt.

People who live in the area say power was restored about 4 a.m. The truck stop had reopened Tuesday morning.

"It doesn't really bother me," one man who was filling his tank said Tuesday morning. "This is normal spring weather."

Another said he thought of the tornado that hit Midlothian in October of 2019.

"There was a tornado that went through here and destroyed a bunch of stuff, but this is normal, nothing big. I've dealt with all kinds of weather," he says.

Some who live nearby say they saw damage to trees, but no major damage to buildings, and no one in Ellis County was hurt.

The National Weather Service was surveying damage Tuesday afternoon to determine how many tornadoes touched down in North Texas Monday night.
