DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Instead of an April Fool's Day prank, a Dallas teenager received the wish of a lifetime yesterday.
Suffering from Cystic Fibrosis, 15- year-old Brandon Benavides was made Dallas Chief of Police For the Day.
When the life-threatening nature of the illness was made to clear to him, Brandon was asked what would his fondest wish be. He simply said he wanted to meet a police officer.
Dallas PD did better than that. They set up a meeting with Police Chief Eddie Garcia and a full tour of many of the department's units including SWAT, canine, motorcycles and even the Equestrian Unit.
He was allowed to ride a horse, sit astride a motorcycle and have other hands-on experiences while wearing a Dallas police uniform shirt.
