Six Flags Over Texas started opening daily Thursday to welcome families on spring break. The park in Arlington will stay open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. through March 22; on March 23, the park will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

With warmer weather and sunshine, a line of cars stretched down Six Flags Drive to the 360 interchange about an hour before the park opened Thursday morning.

"We're excited," one mom said. "It's our little one's first time to be here, so we thought we'd try it out opening day."

Another mom and dad said their parents brought them when they were kids, so they're continuing a tradition with the next generation. The dad said they hadn't come since they started having kids of their own several years ago, so he was looking forward to seeing new rides and things to do.

"It's going to be fresh for all of us today," he said.

This year, Six Flags Over Texas is introducing a "locally produced beer honoring the iconic attraction Texas Giant plus a limited-edition Shockwave-inspired cocktail." A restaurant at the park, Primo's, is also making a New York-style pizza, "tossed-to-order Caesar salad" and cannoli.

"It's done to perfection by our new executive chef," says Six Flags Over Texas' Wilma Rivera.

Rivera says the Titan roller coaster is currently being painted but is still open. El Diablo and Conquistador are currently closed while Six Flags Over Texas makes plans for a new attraction in 2026, but she says the park still has 14 roller coasters.

"That's what people come to Six Flags Over Texas for," she says. "[The roller coasters] are here, they're waiting for a guest, and the weather is perfect."

In addition to Primo's, Six Flags Over Texas says several other restaurants will be opening over the course of the year:

- JB’s BBQ – Upon entering the park, the smell of the smoked-in-house brisket, chicken and pulled pork will lead guests to the refurbished JB’s BBQ now offering delicious side dishes like smashed potatoes, mac & cheese, corn bread, healthy salads and peach cobbler.

- All American Café – The most popular restaurant gets a major renovation to provide guests with more seating and shaded areas and an all-new menu that includes double-patty diner-style burgers, hand-breaded chicken tenders, Detroit-style pizza and milkshakes.

- Casa de las Banderas – Opens this summer with a brand-new menu of street tacos, freshly fried tri-color tortilla chips and elote.

- La Cantina – Opens this spring with a new menu featuring Mexican tortas and
traditional sides such as Spanish rice, pinto beans and cilantro lime crema.

- Texas Tacos – All roads will lead to Texas Tacos where guests will find Dallas-style brisket and pork tacos, all made with fresh meat smoked in-house for the first time.

- Etiennes – Opens this summer to delight guests with fresh beignets dusted with powdered sugar, and sweet and savory crepes.

Rivera says the park aims to provide something people of all ages can enjoy.

"I think we have something for everybody," she says. "They can definitely spend the day here and just make memories with their families."

Through Thursday, people can buy single-day tickets usable through March 23 for $29, a 68% discount. Silver passes are available for $59 through March 23. Details are available here.
