Six Flags Over Texas will open its highly anticipated Tormenta Rampaging Run dive coaster on Thursday, July 9, after delaying the original June 26 launch for additional testing on the intense ride.
Park officials announced the updated date Wednesday, emphasizing that the extra time ensures a safe and unforgettable experience worthy of the coaster’s bold design. The record-breaking attraction, inspired by Spain’s Running of the Bulls, is the centerpiece of the new Rancho de la Tormenta area in Arlington, which also features Cocina Abuela, a Spanish and Latin American-themed restaurant.
Tormenta Rampaging Run, designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, stands 309 feet tall and will reach speeds of 87 mph. It features a 95-degree beyond-vertical drop, multiple inversions, sharp turns, and airtime moments. Upon opening, it will break six world records for dive coasters, including tallest, fastest, longest, tallest vertical loop, highest Immelmann inversion, and highest beyond-vertical drop.
The delay comes as part of the park’s 65th anniversary celebrations, giving thrill-seekers more time to plan visits to one of North Texas’ premier summer destinations. Six Flags Over Texas draws families and adrenaline enthusiasts from across the region, boosting local tourism and the Arlington economy during peak season.
No injuries or incidents were reported in connection with the testing or delay. The park continues to prioritize safety while delivering exciting new attractions.
Guests can expect the coaster to deliver high-thrill moments in a themed environment that celebrates Spanish culture and excitement. With summer in full swing, the new opening aligns perfectly with family vacation plans and staycations around DFW.
