Remains found in California nearly 40 years ago have been formally identified as a Dallas woman who was last seen at her family's home in 1980.
The family of Lilly Ann Prendergast never heard from her again since she vanished in 1980.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's office now says skeletal remains found along the shoulder of a California freeway in 1981 were those of Prendergast, as confirmed by DNA tests.
The cause of death remains undetermined. Prendergast was 25 when she disappeared.
