Some Truckstops in the North Texas area are running out of fuel, and that is only the start of possible immediate problems in the supply chain.

At the Flying J truckstop at I-20 and Bonnie View they are reported to be out of fuel. And that's the truckstop where not just the trucks that are waiting there, and there are plenty of those. In fact, reports say all the truckstops in that area are empty.

The problem is the trucks with the fuel cannot get to the truckstops to refuel them due to the travel issues caused by the winter ice storm.

John Esparza of the Texas Trucking Association says all they can do is keep trying.

"It's going to depend on literally where the rubber meets the road" said Esparza. "From where the drivers start from where the load originates and where they have to be. We did get some releif through the Governor's office, so the drivers dont get stuck under an out-of-service mandate when they may be an hour or more away."

It's essential for the truckstops to get the fuel because with all the big-rigs empty, it means stores cannot get resupplied. So some may start running out of products.

The good news is the weather is showing signs of breaking, but not today. Most will have to wait until Thursday. Once the roads thaw, Esparza says it should only take a couple of days to unclog the mess.
