A South Dallas nonprofit is using the excitement surrounding FIFA-related events in North Texas to help teenagers develop job skills, earn money and learn financial responsibility.
Build With Vets has launched an initiative that employs teens to sell merchandise at FIFA watch parties being held across the region. Organizers say the program is designed to provide participants with hands-on work experience while introducing them to the basics of entrepreneurship.
In addition to earning a paycheck, teens are encouraged to open bank accounts and save a portion of their income, helping them establish healthy financial habits at an early age.
Build With Vets President Don Burse Sr. said the initiative is intended to equip young people with practical skills they can carry into future careers. He said organizers hope participants leave the program with both real-world work experience and a stronger understanding of money management.
The program comes as North Texas continues to host FIFA-related events leading up to the region's role in international soccer competitions, creating opportunities for community organizations to connect local residents with workforce development programs.
