Today, we put the spotlight on the city of Keene, the only city in Johnson County with a four year college, Southwestern Adventist University.

Ana Patterson, Special Assistant to the President at Southwestern Adventist University, says it started as a junior college in 1893, and has steadily grown into a university.

With a great public school system, plus the college, Keene residents can get a solid education from kindergarten through graduate school without ever leaving town.

And some residents would never dream of leaving. The duck pond at the center of town is a great place to fish, or get out with the family and take a walk.

Plus, for holidays and special events, citizens traditionally line the main street (named "Old Betsy Road") with American flags.
