A stolen car suspect has been killed in a gunbattle with police in Parker County.
The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate the fatal Christmas Eve police shooting in west Weatherford.
Police say they were investigating a car stolen out of Georgia and they found it on York Avenue, a few blocks north of the Parker County Court House. But the driver decided to floor it and took off.
The chase wound around for a while until the stolen car crashed on Ric Williamson Memorial Highway near Highway 180.
Police say the driver jumped out of the mangled wreckage and immediately opened fire on the officers and DPS troopers who were chasing him. They fired back and the still unidentified gunman was killed at the scene.
