The Dallas Police Department Gang Unit arrested a 19-year-old man after authorities said he robbed four people at gunpoint in January, according to police.

Marsavion McCollister, a documented gang member, was arrested in connection with a Jan. 21 robbery in the 6000 block of Abrams Road. Detectives said he arranged to meet the four victims at an apartment complex to take photos - claiming he was a social media star, then pulled out a gun and stole their belongings.

Investigators believe McCollister is the founder of the “Channel4” gang and a member of the “Best For Less” gang, both described by police as street gangs in Dallas.

On Feb. 19, detectives located McCollister in the 8500 block of E R L Thornton Freeway and requested assistance from the Dallas SWAT team. Officers recovered two firearms — one without a serial number — along with .9 grams of cocaine, two cellphones and a digital scale, police said.

“The arrest of this gang member for this violent offense is a great example of the investigation and follow through by our Gang Unit,” said Chief Daniel Comeaux. “Our Gang Unit detectives and enforcement officers work together to investigate offenses with a criminal gang nexus. This kind of behavior is not tolerated in Dallas, and we will continue to proactively target criminal gangs to keep everybody safe."

McCollister was arrested on four counts of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.
