The US Supreme Court has upheld the Dallas Sexually oriented business ordinance.

Without comment, the court declined to hear the case that forces strip clubs to close nightly.

The Dallas ordinance forces all strip clubs and adult bookstores to close between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The Dallas City Council passed the ordinance two years ago with the justification that it would reduce crime and preserve police resources.

A District court enjoined the enforcement of the ordinance.

With the Supreme Court rejecting the appeal, UNT Dallas law professor Brian Owsley says the ordinance will now likely get sent back to the US District Court for a hearing over the ordinance itself.

The lawyers for the adult businesses have declined to comment.
