The Tarrant Appraisal District says a criminal ransomware attack caused the ongoing outage of its website.
While the homepage is back up, all other functionality of the website remains inaccessible as of noon today.
TAD says it immediately took steps to secure its network, and it's been working with independent cybersecurity experts to get the site back up and running.
It reported the incident to the FBI and to the Texas Department of Information Resources, and it will cooperate with any resulting investigation.
TAD had previously said it has no reason to believe that anyone's sensitive information has been compromised.
TAD's website was knocked offline this morning due to what it says is a network disruption.
