TARRANT COUNTY (1080 KRLD)- Cars started lining up in a parking lot outside Globe Life Park about 4 a.m. Tuesday for the Tarrant Area Food Bank's latest "mega mobile market." Each car received 110 pounds of food, but the event Tuesday also included distribution of school supplies.
"It's a lot of help. It's been difficult getting their clothes, and not worrying about school supplies is a lot of help," one woman said as she waited in line.
"They need to have these supplies. A lot of people aren't working, so we need help," another said.
The Tarrant Area Food Bank says Whataburger donated backpacks, notebooks and other supplies.
"We have a tremendous amount of supplies," says Julie Butner, president and chief executive of the Tarrant Area Food Bank. "We have more than 170 donors from the retail, distribution and food industry."

"The need for food will continue to be high for at least 18 to 24 months, all through the recovery," Butner says. "Once the economy is fully recovered and people are back to work, we should see some of this settle down a little bit."
Meantime, Butner says mobile pantries will continue weekly at least through the end of August on Fridays at Herman Clark Stadium in Fort Worth. She says Tarrant Area Food Bank will then make a decision on whether to continue them longer.
Pop-up markets will continue monthly in different locations. Details for each will be posted online.
