Tarrant County officials are considering a proposal that would reduce the number of polling places ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The plan, scheduled for discussion at Tuesday’s Commissioners Court meeting, would cut Election Day polling sites from 349 to 214 and scale back early voting locations.
Precinct 2 Commissioner Alisa Simmons said the proposal would eliminate early voting on college campuses and argued that limiting access to the ballot box could violate voters’ rights.
Community activists were expected to speak against the changes during the meeting.
