A 28-year-old man was sentenced to 45 years in prison after a Tarrant County jury convicted him of organized retail theft for stealing more than $37,000 worth of merchandise, primarily LEGO sets, from Target stores across North Texas.
Prosecutors say Winston Love was found guilty of organized retail theft involving property valued between $30,000 and $150,000.
Love was arrested on Halloween 2025 after a Target employee reported that a man fled a store with more than $1,200 worth of LEGO merchandise. Police tracked him to a residence where a brief standoff occurred before he surrendered without incident.
Following his arrest, Watauga police said officers seized a vehicle, more than $5,000 in cash and narcotics from the residence where Love had been staying.
Investigators said Love targeted multiple Target stores throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area and was suspected of being part of a larger retail theft ring operating in Texas and Oklahoma.
The total value of the stolen merchandise exceeded $37,000, according to authorities.
This is the first jury trial under Texas’s updated Organized Retail Theft statute, which applies to crimes committed on or after Sept. 1, 2025.
