
Five months after she was acquitted of voter fraud, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has agreed to hear the Tarrant County District Attorney's claim that the case should not have been dismissed.
The voting fraud case is against Crystal Mason. She was on supervision for federal tax fraud when she cast a provisional ballot in 2016. That's against the law, but the courts have ruled she made an honest mistake and did not know it.
The fact that the Court of Criminal Appeals will consider the matter is something Mason's defense attorney, Alison Grinter, was not hoping for.
The court will not hear arguments, rather handle the appeal through legal briefs.
