A 17-year-old boy has been indicted in the murder of a Mesquite teenager last year.
Investigators say the victim vanished in April of 2020. When his body was found, detectives determined he'd been murdered in Dallas.
This past March, shortly after he turned 17, Martin Charles Reyes was booked into the Dallas County jail on a capital murder charge. Now, a Dallas County grand jury has handed up the indictment naming Reyes.
Investigators believe Reyes shot the victim during a robbery which is one of the criteria to elevate murder to capital murder. Even so, if convicted Reyes will not be susceptible to the death penalty because he was still 16 at the time the victim was killed.
