In the race for Texas Attorney General, incumbent Ken Paxton led the field with 42 percent but did not earn at least 50 percent of the vote so he's in a run-off with second place finisher George P. Bush who came in with 21 percent.

The two other republican candidates, Eva Guzman and Congressman Louie Gohmert each got less than 20 percent of the vote.

Bush is the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and currently the Texas Land Commissioner. He’s the only member of his famous family still in public office, as reported by NBCDFW.com.

Since taking office in 2015, Paxton has become one of the nation’s most prominent state attorneys general, leading lawsuits against Big Tech and trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Paxton has spent several years dogged by a felony indictment on securities fraud charges and revelations that donors and allies have benefited from his office. Paxton has denied any wrongdoing and called the accusations politically motivated.

A run-off is also certain on the Democrat side where former ACLU lawyer Rochelle Garza has 42 percent of the vote, leading second-place finisher former Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski who had 21 percent.
