It's a win for embattled Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
A state appeals court has affirmed its decision to allow Paxton's securities fraud trial to move forward in his home county, Collin County. Prosecutors had asked for his trial to be moved to Harris County.
Paxton is accused of getting investors to buy stock in a technology company but never told them he was profiting from those investments.
It is unclear if today's ruling will be appealed.
In addition to the fraud allegations, Paxton is also being investigated by the FBI over allegations from former employees that he abused his political power and took bribes. He denies those allegations.
Several states are also investigating Paxton for professional misconduct for his failed efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
