Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that Google has agreed to a $1.375 billion settlement with the state, concluding two of the largest data privacy enforcement actions ever brought by a single state against the tech company.

Paxton sued Google for unlawfully tracking users geolocation, incognito browsing activity, and biometric data.

The settlement dwarfs any previous single-state agreements, including a $93 million deal elsewhere and a $391 million multistate settlement involving 40 states.

Paxton credited outside counsel Norton Rose Fulbright for their role in the case.

The deal follows Paxton's $1.4 billion settlement with Meta (Facebook) for illegal biometric data collection and earlier $700 million and $8 million settlements with Google over anticompetitive and deceptive trade practices.
