Texas Instruments breaks ground today on a new campus in Sherman that aims to help meet the worldwide demand for microchips.

Dallas-based Texas Instruments says it'll spend up to $30 billion to build up to four semi-conductor plants along Highway 75 in Sherman.

TI breaks breaks ground Wednesday and hopes to start production in 2025.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is attending the ground-breaking and says the plants will bring hundreds of jobs to the area and keep Texas a national leader in semi-conductor manufacturing.

Texas Instruments is also building a semi-conductor plant in Richardson, with production there expected to start in the second half of this year.
