Texas State Senator Drew Springer has written a letter to the Senate calling to reopen the Senate's impeachment trail into Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Springer says that Paxton is admitting guilt by trying to end the long-running whistleblower lawsuit against him by saying he will no longer contest the facts of the case.
Springer says Paxton has admitted to violating at least one of the articles of impeachment. Specifically, Article 6, as it addressed AG Paxton's violation of the Texas Whistle Blower Act.
"When you concede the facts in a case you are admitting that everything the defendants are saying against you is correct," said Springer. "So yes, it is an admission of guilt, and that brings up questions that we should reconsider Article 6 of the impeachment of the Attorney General."
Springer voted to acquit Paxton in his impeachment trial last September but now feels misled after the recent court filing by the Attorney General.
