A week ahead of the total solar eclipse Texas transportation leaders are taking action to help keep traffic moving.
It's the massive crowds and gridlock that transportation leaders are worried about as scores of people make their way to Texas for the April 8th eclipse.
In an effort to help keep traffic flowing the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, which issues permits for 18-wheelers, is banning oversized rigs in more than 80 Texas counties on the day of the eclipse, from midnight to midnight.
Those counties banning semi trucks include Tarran, Denton, Dallas, Colli, Johnson, Parker, Kaufma, Ellis, and Rockwall.
Also, TxDot has already started posting signs on its electronic message boards along highways reminding people not to stop on the highway during the eclipse. Police will be out in force to make sure drivers obey.
