This is the final day of Hanukkah as the Jewish festival ends at sundown this evening.
Each night of Hanukkah, the Dallas Jewish Community Center has illuminated an additional spot light beaming into the night sky, one light for each night, creating a kind of Menorah, the eight-armed candlestick featured in Jewish worship and culture.
According to the Jewish calendar, the eighth day of Hanukkah began last night at sundown and the eighth spot light was turned on.
Jewish leaders say such symbolism demonstrates that we all can be a beacon of hope in an often dark world.
