Three men connected to the string of fentanyl poisonings in Carrollton have been sentenced to a combined 35 years in federal prison.

Court records show the suspects all plead guilty to various drug charges including conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, and distribution of fentanyl to a person under 21 years of age.

23-year-old Jason Villanueva was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison. 23-year-old Rafael Soliz was also sentenced to 15 years. And 20-year-old Roberta Gaitan was sentenced to 5 years.

Prosecutors say several children between the ages of 13 - 17 years of age, including two middle school students and one high school student died after taking the fentanyl pills.

So far, ten individuals have been charged in the drug conspiracy and are tied to at least 12 juvenile overdoses, three of them fatal in Carrollton and Flower Mound.
