Three men pleaded guilty to targeting gay men in Dallas using a dating app, and then assaulting and robbing them.
Michael Atkinson, 28, Pablo Ceniceros-Deleon, 21, and Daryl Henry, 24, were sentenced to prison terms for their involvement in a scheme to target gay men for violent crimes.
Atkinson was sentenced to over 11 years in prison, Ceniceros-Deleon was sentenced to 22 years in prison, and Henry was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Prosecutors say the three created a fake profile on Grindr, a dating app used primarily by gay men, to lure them to a vacant apartment. When the victims got there they were robbed, pistol-whipped, beaten, and assaulted.
The incidents took place in December of 2017.
Prosecutors say after the beatings, the men held victims against their will, and at gun point traveled to local ATMs to withdraw cash from the victims' accounts. At least one victim was sexually assaulted.
A fourth member of the group also plead guilty and will be sentenced in October.
