After six hours of deliberation on Monday, Timothy Simpkins was sentenced to 12 years in prison after shooting three people at Timberview High School in October 2021. His punishment includes a $6,000 fine.
Simpkins was found guilty of attempted murder by a Tarrant County jury last week.
Though he did not take the stand during trial last week, Simpkins took the stand Monday to defend himself during his sentencing. This is the first time Simpkins has made a public statement since the shooting in 2021.
While on the stand, Simpkins was questioned for almost two hours. He became emotional in court, issuing an apology to the victims.
