A jury has been seated for the trial of a former Bedford middle school counselor who is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17 year old student.

Shannon Hathaway was arrested by Bedford Police on charges of having an improper relationship with a student. Police say it happened in 2018.
The teenager was a high school 9th grader at the time and an arrest affidavit says the two were caught in bed by the boy's mother. Hathaway immedicately resigned.
Police say the two may have 'hooked up' as many as a dozen times, sometimes at the teenager's home, sometimes at Hathaway's house.
The crime itself carries a possible 20-year prison term. Opening statements begin tomorrow.
