President Donald Trump plans to attend a dignified transfer ceremony Wednesday at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for four U.S. service members killed in recent fighting in the Middle East, including 19-year-old Army Pvt. Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton.
The remains of the troops will be returned to their families in a formal military ceremony that marks the solemn homecoming of those killed in action. White House officials confirmed Trump’s attendance as the remains of service members killed in an Iranian attack on a Jordan air base and a related incident in Iraq arrive at the Delaware base.
Gonzales, a 2025 graduate of Hebron High School, was killed July 17 during an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. She was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, based in Ansbach, Germany, and was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
The Defense Department also identified 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, who was killed in the same attack. A third service member from the Jordan strike, previously listed as missing, is among those whose remains are being returned. A fourth service member was killed July 18 in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone.
Friends and classmates in North Texas have described Gonzales as outgoing, disciplined and determined. She left for basic training roughly a year before her death. Carrollton and the surrounding community have begun mourning the loss of one of their own, with local officials and residents expressing pride in her service and sorrow at her young age.
The dignified transfer is a longstanding military tradition that allows families and the nation to honor the fallen as their remains return to U.S. soil. Trump’s presence continues a practice followed by recent presidents at such ceremonies.
U.S. Central Command has said the Jordan attack was part of ongoing Iranian operations against American and partner forces. The broader conflict has resulted in additional U.S. casualties and injuries in recent weeks.
