A woman and a teenage boy are being treated for gunshot wounds suffered in what Mansfield police believe was a late night family violence attack at a home on Arabian Court, a cul-de-sac near Matlock and Country Club Road.
Just past 10:30 p.m, police learned that 52-year-old Thomas Boykin first assaulted his wife and then shot his 13-year-old son and his 21-year-old step-daughter while they were sleeping.
Police say their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening; they're both hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
Boykin was later arrested without incident, according to police.
KRLD has learned that Boykin is a science teacher at Jobe Middle School in the Mansfield ISD, and his wife is an assistant principal at Gideon Elementary School. We have also learned Boykin was immediately placed on administrative leave and MISD's superintendent is starting the process of firing Boykin, which requires board approval.
Mansfield ISD has released the following statement:
"We know this news is upsetting for our entire community. We have additional counseling staff available for any students and staff who may need support."
Boykin is locked up and has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault, family violence with serious bodily injury. They also cannot yet say why he shot the victims.
