A UPS driver passed out and crashed their vehicle over the weekend, and heat may have been a factor, according to a local union.
The driver, who was on their route out of McKinney, began to experience heat-related symptoms on Friday, Teamsters Local 767 posted on social media.
The driver was briefly hospitalized but has been released. According to the local UPS union, when the driver called for assistance, the McKinney facility instructed them to return to the location on their own, rather than arranging for immediate aid.
According to KRLD's media partner NBC 5, this incident echoes a similar case from last summer involving a UPS driver from the same facility, who died due to heat stress. In that case, the family and union claimed that no medical aid was provided.
The McKinney UPS location stated it is cooperating with authorities in the investigation of the current crash.
